Voters invited to meet their legislators at the library Jan. 15

legislative reception  web(STILLWATER, OKLA. / Jan. 2, 2015) — The Stillwater League of Women Voters, Stillwater Chamber of Commerce’s Government Affairs Committee and Friends of the Stillwater Public Library invite community members to attend a Legislative Reception in the Stillwater Public Library auditorium on Thursday, Jan. 15, from 5-7 p.m.

Senator James Halligan and Representatives Cory Williams, Lee Denney and Dennis Casey will be present to provide information on the upcoming legislative session and to answer questions.  Other elected officials invited include the Mayor and City Council,PayneCounty officials and the Stillwater Board of Education.  Stillwater city management has also been invited to attend.

“This event gives you the chance to find out more about your elected officials in the library’s comfortable, casual environment,” said Lynda Reynolds, library director.  “It is also an opportunity for you to tell officials about the issues that concern you the most.”

The “come and go” event will provide citizens an opportunity to visit one on one with their elected officials.  Constituents are also invited to submit written questions which will be read aloud by a League of Women Voters representative and answered by officials.

The Stillwater Public Library is located at 1107 S. Duck St. (the corner of Duck and 12th Ave.). Library hours are Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
