"Summer @ Your Library" wraps up

(STILLWATER, OKLA. / July 21, 2015) The Stillwater Public Library wraps up its summer reading programs next week with finales for children and teens. The big end of summer prizes will also be awarded for many of the readers who submitted logs over the last two months.

For children, reading logs are due by noon on Friday, July 24. Anyone who turned in at least ten hours will be invited by email to the Award ceremonies on Tuesday, July 28.

Families with last names starting with A-L are asked to attend the 10 a.m. ceremony, and those with last names starting with M-Z are asked to attend at 1:30 p.m.

This Tuesday event features a special performance by storyteller Fran Stallings, who has performed all over the world entrancing children with her magical tales. Kids will also receive a special reading certificate and a free book.

Those who turn in additional logs will be entered into drawings for prizes. Kids who read 15 hours or more will earn a chance for gift cards from Sylvan, while those reading 20 hours or more qualify for the Monty Harper classroom visit drawings.

The big prize of the summer is a one year membership to the Wondertorium from the Friends of the Library and the science museum. Kids who have read 30 hours or more get a chance to win this prize.

Teen reading sheets are due by 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, which is also the start of the teen Summer Finale. Teens will be treated to delicious pizza provided by Little Caesar’s, desserts and chances for big prizes.

Teens who turned in reading sheets will get chances for the big prize, a choice between an Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Laptop, or Daddy O's Gift Certificate provided by the Friends of the Library. In addition, the Top 30 teen readers will receive an invitation to a special Laser Tag Party on Aug. 1.

Adults have until 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 26, to submit their summer activity cards. Participants must have all six cards turned in by this time to qualify for the drawing. Three prizes will be awarded: a Samsung Galaxy Tab4 Nook and two semester passes to the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.
