Stillwater Public Library holds a superhero 'Summer @ Your Library' for children, teens and adults

(STILLWATER, OKLA. / May 12, 2015) – With great books, comes great reading! Spiderman, Thor and Miss Marvel will be assembling on the shelves of the Stillwater Public Library this summer. Children, teens and adults are challenged to join them and become Library Avengers during “Summer @ Your Library,” held from June 2-July 29. Registration for the children’s and teen summer reading programs is now underway, and the returning adult program begins June 1.

“Parents, grandparents and other adult readers have continued asking when we’ll have another adult summer program,” said Stacy DeLano, Adult Services librarian. “You’ve asked, so we’re doing it!”

“Escape the Ordinary” adult summer reading program gives adults the chance to benefit from reading and completing different library related activities. Each registered adult will receive a set of six superhero cards listing particular activities. Once an activity is completed, one card can be turned in each week and the participant becomes eligible for a chance to win that week’s prize. Readers who complete all six cards, will become eligible for the end of the summer grand prize drawings for a Samsung Galaxy Tab Nook and two Osher Life Long Learning semester passes.

Children will be participating in the “Every Hero Has a Story” summer reading program.

Upon joining the Children’s Reading Club, participants will receive a coupon for a free summer program t-shirt logo.  Participants can take their own t-shirts to Chris’ University Spirit and the logo will be applied at no charge.

Members who read, or are read to, and who log and turn in their reading hours will be eligible for the following prizes:

  • 5 hours - Receive a food coupon, while supplies last.
  • 10 hours - Receive a book and a certificate of achievement at the Awards Ceremony on July 28 with special performer, storyteller Fran Stallings.
