Science Cafe Programs: Insecticides, Pharmaceuticals, and Personal Care Products in the Environment
(STILLWATER, OKLA / March 14, 2017) — Science Café OSU is offering a community program March 21 at 6:30 p.m. at Stillwater Public Library. The program, “Insecticides, Pharmaceuticals, and Personal Care Products in the Environment,” features Dr. Jason Belden, OSU Department of Integrative Biology. The program will be repeated at the OSU Library on March 28 at 6:30 p.m.
Dr. Belden’s research expertise is environmental toxicology and ecotoxicology. He is with the OSU Department of Integrative Biology. His research is part of the OneHealth initiative at OSU.
As an interdisciplinary research strength at OSU, the OneHealth concept recognizes and fosters the university’s expertise, resources and history as a research leader in fields impacting human health, animal health, and environmental health.
“This program offers valuable information for anyone interested in our environment,” said Professor Karen Neurohr who coordinates Science Café, “whether you work in this area, teach science in school, or just want to know more about the topic.”
Sponsors for this Science Café OSU Community Program include the OSU Library, Stillwater Public Library, OSU Vice-President for Research, Lake McMurtry Friends, Inc., OSU Department of Natural Resource Ecology and Management (NREM), and the OSU Chapter of Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society.
Student organization partners include NREM Graduate Student Association, Society of Environmental Scientists, Tri-Beta National Biological Scientific Honor Society, and Zoology Graduate Student Society.
Professional Development Credit Forms will be available for public school teachers.
Science Café events are free and open to the public. No science background is assumed or required.
