THE WALKING LIBRARY (various, Feb.-July 2020)

  • Walk, talk and learn! Check out a number of library classes that take place while getting exercise.
  • All walking classes will be limited to 12 people so registration is required.
  • Topics vary and include a walking book club, walking workouts, talks with officials, parent topics, birdwatching, and more.

IMMIGRATION TOWN HALL (Tuesday, March 24, 6:30-8 p.m.)
  • The library is hosting a moderated discussion on the topic of immigration lead by Dr. Boles and Mayor Will Joyce.
  • Four to six panelists will address questions from the moderator, and the audience will have an opportunity to engage with the panelists at the end of the program. Light refreshments will be provided.

TAI CHI: MOVING FOR BETTER BALANCE (Mondays, Mar. 30-May 18, 11 a.m.-12 p.m.)
  • This is a beginner's level Tai Chi class with moves designed to help improve balance
  • The class is full. Please call (405) 372-3633 x8106, or stop by the Help Desk, to get on the waitlist.
MERIDIAN BASIC COMPUTER CLASSES (Dates vary)
  • Winter and spring classes are listed at this link.
  • Topics include Windows 10, Email, Microsoft Word, and more. 
  • Some classes are free, others have a small fee. Books will be provided for computer basics classes.
AMERICANS AT WAR SPEAKER SERIES (Six-part series from Sept. 9, 2019-April 13, 2020)
  • The OSU History Dept. is partnering with the Library to present distinguished scholars with expertise in military history.

For 4th grade and up youth who are interested in learning how to code using Scratch. Learn how to make animations, computer games and more!  Saturday dates: 1/11, 1/25, 2/8, 2/22, 3/7, 3/28, 4/25, 5/9. Spring semester sessions will build upon each other so please make sure your child can attend the majority of sessions. Register for Code Name: Scratch

Chess Club Starts back up on Jan 10th

Chess Club will be taking a holiday break- stay tuned for when it resumes in January. Fridays from 4:30-5:30 pm. Play games against other chess players to improve your game and perfect your strategies. Best for grades 4th and older, knowledge basic chess moves greatly preferred. Get reminder emails for chess

Homeschool R.E.A.D!  Currently full 

R.E.A.D!= Reading, Explorations, and Discovery! Homeschooler program for 1st-5th graders to help explore the wide world of literature. Each month a different literary genre will be presented. It is a two-part program each month, with the first session introducing the new genre and the second session providing time to share a special project. Held on the 1st & 3rd Monday of the month at 2:30 pm (subject to change due to holidays) Register for R.E.A.D! 

Kid's Writing Club Jan-April

Writing program hosted by the OSU Writing Center!!! Geared towards 8-12 years old. Held on the 2nd & 4th Thursday of each month from 6:00-8:00 p.m. (may end early depending on writing styles). Only held when OSU in session- last fall class will be Nov 14th. Writing Club incorporates literacy activities that may reflect the book the group is reading or other activities that give the group opportunities to practice writing. Previous activities have included short stories, letter writing, poetry, and more. Participants are welcome to suggest topics for activities. Participants do not need to have attended previous classes, all are welcome. Get reminder emails for Writing.

Tuesdays After School

Kids in the Kitchen 2.0:  Come join in the fun of a hands-on cooking program for ages 5-9. Learn how to read a recipe and work as a team to make tasty treats! Programs run Tuesdays in March from 3:30-5. There will be no class over spring break (there will be drop-in spring break activities). Parent participation encouraged but not mandatory. Register Here
