OSU Extension's grant provides an "Excel"lent learning opportunity at Stillwater Public Library
REGISTRATION IS NOW FULL
(STILLWATER, OKLA. / Aug. 20, 2015) – The Payne County OSU Cooperative Extension and Stillwater Public Library are partnering to provide a Microsoft Excel class for post-beginning users. The class will take place Thursday, Sept. 10, at 6-9 p.m. in the library’s computer lab.
“Excel for Advanced Beginners” has been made possible through a grant from the USDA and Southern Risk Management Education Center. Courtesy of the grant, each attendee will receive a free three hour course, flash drive, workbook and copy of “Excel for Dummies 2013.”
Scott Clawson, who joined OSU Extension two years ago, will serve as the class instructor. Clawson’s Extension focus is farm business management, which includes assisting with production, financial record keeping and extensive use of Excel.
“Excel is a very versatile tool that allows its users to collect, track and analyze all types of information much faster and more efficient than doing manual analysis,” said Clawson. “One of the great benefits is its ability to be used across all types of applications.”
The class is appropriate for higher-level beginners and lower-level intermediate Excel users. Participants who sign up for the class will need to know how spreadsheets work on Excel 2010 or 2013, how to add and delete columns and rows and how to perform simple formulas.
Clawson will teach participants several next-level skills that will help participants use Excel more efficiently and effectively. Those skills include creating charts and graphs, using various sorting techniques and constructing advanced formulas.
“Excel for Advanced Beginners” is free and open to the public, but registration is limited. Sign-up is online only.
