Making the Most of Retirement takes retirees on the cruise of a lifetime
(STILLWATER, OKLA. / October 10, 2017) –– “Making the Most of Retirement” meets October 18 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. on the third floor of the Stillwater Public Library. This month features another segment of the popular Armchair Traveler series. Stan and Barbara Grogg, and guest speakers Doug and Dinah Fuller, will be “taking” retirees on the cruise of their lifetime.
The program will cover the Grogg’s and Fuller’s trip that spanned from Cape Town, South Africa to Singapore by ship. The presenters will show attendees sites throughout the trip, including ones in Mozambique, Madagascar, Tanzania, Kenya, Seychelles, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Malaysia.
“In one hour, you will see the most fascinating parts of the world, guaranteed,” promises Stan Grogg.
Additional topics will include description of the rare animals the travelers encountered that are found in only in certain parts of the world, such as the lemurs of Madagascar, and the fascinating preparation cruise ship personnel provide passengers for unexpected events, like a run-in with real pirates.
For those interested in planning a cruise, the library has purchased two new books on including “Frommer's Easyguide to Cruising” by Aaron Saunders, Aaron and “Alaska by Cruise Ship: the Complete Guide to Cruising Alaska” by Anne Vipond. Inquire with a librarian for assistance borrowing them.
“Making the Most of Retirement” is a monthly program coordinated by the OSU Emeriti Association. The program provides information about topics pertaining to retirement. All local retirees and those considering retirement are welcome to attend.
The November 15 program will focus on volunteering opportunities at OSU’s Botanic Garden. The series will break in December for the holidays and return on Jan. 17 with another Armchair Traveler session with Daryl Nord on “A Tour of Israel.”http://library.stillwater.org.
