Making the Most of Retirement addresses legacy planning May 20 at Stillwater Public Library

Danny Cochran(STILLWATER, OKLA. / May 6, 2015) –– On Wednesday, May 20, Danny Cochran, Senior Wealth and Tax Advisor, will present “Legacy Planning,” at the OSU Emeriti Association’s monthly retirement program, “Making the Most of Retirement.” The program takes place at 1:30 p.m. at Stillwater Public Library.

“One aspect of financial planning that all too often is overlooked until it’s too late is legacy planning,” said Cochran. “Ultimately a legacy plan ensures that your wishes are upheld at the time of your passing.”

Cochran will discuss aspects of legacy planning, including beneficiary reviews, will reviews, tax efficiency, health directives and the importance of communicating plans with family members.

“While legacy planning is a complex and emotional subject, it’s one of the most critical discussions to have with your loved ones,” said Cochran. “The last thing you want is to leave your family in a position of making important decisions during an emotionally fragile state.  Although this topic maybe uncomfortable, it’s a conversation you will be forever grateful you had.”

Cochran is a graduate of the University of Central Oklahoma and opened his CPA practice in 1982. He became a registered financial advisor in 1989 and holds professional designations including Certified Financial Planner, Certified Public Accountant, Personal Financial Specialist and Certified Senior Advisor, as well as licenses in securities, investment and insurance.

Colleagues have recognized Cochran as a top advisor with H.D. Vest Investment Servicessm eight times since he became a registered representative.

“Making the Most of Retirement” is free and open to all retirees.  It meets the third Wednesday of each month.  The next program takes place June 17 when Louise Schroeder presents “Understanding Long-Term Care Insurance.” The series will go on hiatus for July and August.
