Magic and comic book crafting are the highlights of next week's ´Summer @ Your Library'

kevin wade(STILLWATER, OKLA. / June 30, 2015) – “Summer @ Your Library” has kept kids and teens reading throughout the summer. Readers in the children’s program have already logged nearly 6000 hours, while teens have reported over 4000. The reading and entertainment continue this upcoming week with a magical performance and comic book crafting.

On Tuesday, July 7, at 10 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., magician Kevin Wade will wow children and families with his illusions and tricks.  Wade has been performing magic for 22 years and is one of the most popular performers in the summer program. In addition to performing magic, Wade has actually invented several original tricks of his own which are performed by other magicians all over the world.

Wade, who is a bookworm himself, will use super human feats of magic, humor and music to help encourage audience members to keep reading.

“For me, all books are magic books,” said Wade. “When you read, you learn.  Learning is power and the knowledge you get from books is just like magic!”

Children are encouraged to wear their “Every Hero Has a Story” t-shirts to qualify for chances for special prizes.

On Wednesday, July 8, at 2:30 p.m., readers in the teen program will need to get super creative when they make “Comic Book Crafts.” All the supplies will be provided for making everything from keychains and magnets to one of a kind wallets and more.

Attendees will be using a variety of art forms to make the crafts, including decoupage. Teens who would like to decoupage items of their own should bring the pieces to the program.

“Comic Book Crafting” is open to young adults going into 6-12 grades.

The audience will think “Everything is Awesome!” at “Summer Cinema” on Thursday, July 9. The library will show a 2014 PG rated film that tells the story of Emmet, an ordinary, rule-following, perfectly average mini-figure drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant.

The film shows at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Families and children are invited to share the movie and popcorn.
