How to start a business class offered at Stillwater Public Library

(STILLWATER, OKLA. / Jan. 25, 2016) – On Saturday, Feb. 13, 10 a.m.– noon, Brad Rickelman, Assistant Director of the Center for Business Development at Meridian Technology Center, will be teaching “How to Start a Business." The free class, which will be held at the Stillwater Public Library, teaches potential business owners the essential details necessary to begin a start-up.

Students attending the class will learn how to create a focus for their business, research financial requirements, determine the revenues needed to offset expenses, hiring the right team, handling marketing and advertising, searching competition and reviewing the requirements for a business loan application.

For anyone who cannot attend the class or would like to read more about starting a business, the library has a large collection of books on all facets of the topic.

The business collection also includes a large number of books available in the Oklahoma Virtual Library, which can be downloaded for free with a library card. The digital library is accessible 24 hours a day from any computer or mobile device with internet.

The library also provides the Small Business Reference Center, a free online business information service. The service offers videos, articles and books and includes access to a small business start-up kit and dozens of NOLO consumer legal guides targeted to small business owners.

The Center for Business Development is another local resource for businesses. It is dedicated to empowering entrepreneurs through networking, education, consulting and business incubation services. Assistance is available in various areas such as marketing, product planning, international business and writing business plans.
