Census Central @ Your Library

Update: The library is suspending programs and outreach visits until April 5, which includes Census Pop-Ups and Open Labs. Please continue to contact us with questions! You can still complete the census online at my2020census.gov or call 844-330-2020 to complete the census over the phone.

Have Census 2020 questions? Your librarians can help! Call at 405-372-3633, ext 8106 or email askalibrarian@stillwater.org.

Want to know how well Oklahoma is being counted in the Census? Check out Census 2020 response rates to see what percentage of Oklahoma addresses have submitted their forms.

The Stillwater Public Library is working with "Payne County Complete Count" to help make sure everyone in the census centralcommunity gets counted during Census 2020! Library staff will be available to answer questions about the census process and provide easy access to technology so community members can fill out the census online.

For information about why the census is important to our community, how the process will work, and frequently asked questions, please visit paynecountycensus.org. The City also has some great informational videos that provide quick overviews:

Census 2020 invites start going out by mail on March 12, so be sure to check your mailbox. Here is an example of what the invitation letter looks like.

Visit my2020census.gov to complete the census questionnaire. You can also call 844-330-2020 to complete the census over the phone.

How We Can Help

Librarians hope to make completing the census as easy as possible, but cannot fill out the census for community members. Librarians also will not be collecting personal information from citizens, but can do the following:

  1. Provide information about the census
  2. Answer questions about the census process
  3. Provide access to devices to fill out the census
  4. Provide “mechanical assistance,” for example, how to use a down menu; how to move a mouse, etc.

In the library: March 12-May 31

  • Computers
Library computers are available during all open hours. The library will suspend computer use rules for people who come in with their Census 2020 invite. Computers can be used to complete the online form regardless of whether they have a card or late fees.

  • Helpful Librarians
The adult services librarians are available throughout library hours to answer questions
  • Open Labs
Visit the library's Open Lab in Room 119 where librarians will be available to answer all questions and help navigate to the Census 2020 online form. Phones will also be available for those who prefer to complete the forms that way.

The Open Labs are great for anyone who feels they may need additional time and assistance to complete Census 2020.
    • Thursday, April 2, 3-7 p.m.
    • Friday, April 10, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

  • Free Bus Rides
Take the Census 2020 invite on the Scarlet route bus and get a free bus ride to and from the library. The bus driver will mark the Census 2020 invite for the one free roundtrip fare.
