Buyers can binge on bargain books Sept. 24-27 at Stillwater Public Library

Fall  Book Sale x(STILLWATER, OKLA. / Sept. 4, 2015) –– North Central’s biggest bargain book sale is back with another 20,000 used and like-new items priced as low as 25 cents. The Stillwater Public Friends of the Library sale takes place Sept. 24-27 and includes children’s books, fiction, nonfiction, rare items, DVDs,  audios and, unique to this fall sale, framed nature photographs taken by a local photographer.

“You simply can’t get books this at these prices anymore,” said Lynda Reynolds, library director. “Everything in the sale is priced from 25 cents to $1. That is a good deal for anyone, but we especially like that parents can affordably replace their children’s worn out collections with items that are brand new to them.”

Shoppers can get a good deal on one of a kind art, as well.

“During this fall sale only, the Friends will be selling 26 framed nature photographs taken by Stillwater resident Doris Reed who donated her collection to further benefit the library” said Reynolds. “The photographs are currently on display inside the main library and will be moved up to the second floor for the sale.”

Doris Reed photographsThe book sale will be held on the second floor of the Stillwater Public Library’s meeting room building.  Books are priced $1 for hardbacks, 50 cents for paperbacks, DVDs and audios and 25 cents for children’s books. Books are sorted into categories such as Sci Fi, Mysteries, Cookbooks, Local History, Education & Curriculum and Older & Rare items for easier browsing. The framed photographs will sell for $20 each.

The sale begins with a "Members Only Preview" on Thursday, Sept. 24, from 5 to 8 p.m.  Friends of the Library membership is open to everyone and will be available at the door    Membership is $10 per year and memberships purchased at the April 2015 sale will be honored at the fall sale.  Buyers at the preview sale are limited to 100 books, including 50 children’s books.

The sale continues on Friday, when it opens to the general public.  Hours for the public sale are Friday, noon to 8 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Bag Sale will take place on Sunday from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., when shoppers can fill an entire bag with books of the buyer’s choosing for just $1. Bags will be provided and the number of bags purchased is not limited. 

All proceeds from the sale benefit the Library.

“The book sale is our favorite event,” said Reynolds. “Of course, we earn money for new library materials and services, but we also get to see our community members going home with a new collection of beloved titles.”

The Friends of the Library work all year collecting and sorting gently used books which largely come from public donations. Donation bins are located in each lobby of the library where books, DVDs, CDs, and magazines are accepted year round.  Tax receipts are available.
